The N-Control Offroad Experience

N-Control features one of the largest offroad tracks in Texas, a 100 x 140 foot plot decked out with massive elevation changes. We race on a course designed to test a driver's skill and car. With a driveline generally around 800 feet, laps times are in the 30's and drivers shoot for 7, 8, or 9 laps in our 5 minute qualifiers. Eight to twelve jumps, a huge banked turn, and challenging features like split jumps and off-camber turns create an exciting driving experience.

We've got great facilities, too. Superb lighting lets us run into the night, while a carefully designed PA covers our large space with good sound. In addition to our exhuberant RDs, a BetaBrite sign provides current information while racing. A tall driver's stand provides a good view of the track, and the raised pit lane just in front on it allows fast, comfortable pit stops. N-Control uses a state-of-the-art computerized sequential drop gate, shooting cars off individually at any interval and order selected by the Race Director. Racer's enjoy pitting in the well-lit covered pits, suitable for about 30 racers, with plentiful outlets and easy access to the track.

The track is runnning a red-clay based sandy loam, with moderate sand content. For our weekly club races, we run the track wet. Plan for several track closures prior to racing, and one longer break typically between the first and second rounds of qualifying. Our RWDS (Rapid Water Delivery System) holds 700+ gallons and shoots at about 60 per minute, allowing a quick shot to keep things moist. Any tires seem to work well when the track is wet, although more aggressive sidewalls may tend to traction roll unless the outer row of tread is cut. For larger races, as is the norm, we run the track dry. Still working with this dirt to get it to groove up. Most racers prefer Crimefighters and K2's in buggy, Crimes and Boas in monster/area truck, and Step Pins or Bowties in 2WD.
